Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has attacked the State Govt and CM Devendra Fadnavis as Maharashtra couldn't secure a place in the first 15 States in the State Ranking Report 2018 published by the Centre on December 20, 2018.
Prithviraj Chavan said, "The promise of making Maharashtra the Start-up capital of India was fake just like the other tall promises the Govt has made to the youth of the country. Since the Fadnavis-led BJP Govt has come in power, the rate of development of industries in Maharashtra has been falling consistently. From 7.2% in 2015-16, 6.9% in 2016-17, the rate dropped to 6.5% in 2017-18. In the past 4 years, the Govt has promoted Make in Maharashtra and Magnetic Maharashtra through advertisements but has failed miserably in delivering their promises".
Chavan also stated that the State's position in the Centre's ranking of Ease of Doing Business has been on the decline too. The state ranked 8th in 2015 while it came down to 10th in 2016 and 13th in the year 2018.

"The Industrial sector of Maharashtra has been ignored by the BJP-Shiv Sena Govt due to their interest in mere advertisements and internal clashes and the effect of these factors on the industrial sector is directly reflected on the rising unemployment in the State”, added Chavan.

Speaking about Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray’s visit to Pandharpur, Chavan stated that the BJP as well as Shiv Sena is foreseeing their defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls and hence are doing such stunts.  Prithviraj Chavan was accompanied by Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam as the former Maharashtra CM addressed the media today.
