“What is the need to now refer this inquiry to the law and judiciary department?”, asks Nirupam

Mumbai: MRCC President Sanjay Nirupam today attacked the Chief Minister over the controversial CIDCO land deal stating that all he is trying to do is employ delaying tactics in order to avoid the inevitable.

Sanjay Nirupam said, “It is completely within the powers of the Chief Minister to scrap this extremely illegal deal which is in complete contravention of the rules. The land in question belongs to the Urban Development Ministry which is under the Chief Minister and it was illegally allotted to a private builder, Paradise Builders by the Revenue Ministry. Since the allotment is completely illegal, the CM can intervene within his rights to cancel the deal immediately without consulting anybody”

This was in response to the Chief Minister’s announcement in the assembly on Wednesday about consulting the state law and judiciary department over this controversial CIDCO land deal in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.

Earlier this month Sanjay Nirupam along with AICC Communication Department Chief Randeep Surjewala and Former CM Prithviraj Chavan exposed this scam producing proofs that Paradise Builders, namely Manish Bhatija and Sanjay Bhalerao grabbed the 24-acre land in question worth Rs. 1767 Crores for Rs. 3.5 Crores. Nirupam had earlier demanded the CM to scrap the entire deal and suspend the then CIDCO MD, District Collector (Raigad), Additional Collector (Raigad) and Tahsildar (Panvel) for allotting the land in question to private builders for peanuts. Mr. Nirupam had earlier demanded a judicial probe to investigate the matter which was considered by the CM. Later the Mumbai Congress President also demanded that this illegal deal should be put on hold which was accepted by the CM as well.
