More than 28,000 wagons loaded in more than 550 rakes in last 10 days by Central Railway
Due to the pandemic of corona virus, Central Railway is operating only freight trains for carrying essential commodities. Railway staff at various good sheds, stations and control offices who are working on 24/7 basis have made it possible to load 28,555 wagons of essential commodities in 556 rakes for supply across the nation.
The total 28,555 loaded wagons included, 16964 wagons of coal, 2443 wagons of petroleum products, 7059 containers, 475 wagons of fertilizer, 42 wagons of food grains, 84 wagons of sugar, 84 wagons of onions and 676 wagons of miscellaneous and 728 other commodities. These wagons were loaded at various locations of Central Railway like Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Solapur and Pune from 21.3.2020 to 31.3.2020.
Freight movement is being closely monitored by officials at very senior level. Central Railway understands its crucial role during this difficult time and requests all the stakeholders to fully support in this endeavour.
