The CM should stop the on-going Monsoon Session and immediately return to Mumbai with all the leaders in order to bring the city back on track and protect Mumbaikars: Sanjay Nirupam
Mumbai:  Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam has slammed CM Devendra Fadnavis as he prefers to be in the on-going Monsoon session in Nagpur while entire Mumbai along with Thane District has been witnessing heavy rains since the past three days. Flood-like situation has can be seen across the city. Mumbaikars are troubled with water logging in all the Western suburban areas from Malad to Virar. Also, the plight of the people residing in Sion, Wadala, Matunga, Hindmaata, Tardeo, Jacob Circle among others is no different. Railway stations have submerged under rain water completely. Repeated landslides across the city have instigated a sense of fear among the people of Mumbai.

Sanjay Nirupam said, “As Mumbaikars are distressed, the BJP- Shiv Sena leaders are not in the city and have decided to stay in Nagpur. The Mumbaikars are battling for their lives. The transport system of the city has crippled. The Chief Minister is not in Mumbai as the entire city is flooded. Therefore, the CM should stop the Monsoon Session and immediately return to Mumbai along with other party leaders in order to restore the city and protect the Mumbaikars”. The Mumbai Congress Unit Chief demanded the CM to return as he met with the residents of Popular Building in Borivali which has began to sink into the ground.

“The BJP- Shiv Sena Govt remembers the people of Mumbai only when the elections are approaching. They don’t even refrain from using caste and religion as tools to secure votes. They make tall promises of providing basic infrastructure and safety to the Mumbaikars. Every year they assure that the city will no longer have to face floods. However, history repeats year after year and the people of Mumbai are at the receiving end of all the trouble caused to water logging and floods. The BJP- Shiv Sena Govt and the deep-rooted corruption in the BMC are responsible for this”.

As Sanjay Nirupam reminded Devendra Fadnavis of his duties as a CM, he demanded him to return to the city for the aid of the Mumbaikars at the earliest.
