The Governor of Maharashtra CH. Vidyasagar Rao  congratulated tribal students from Chandrapur District on their successful completion of Mount Everst Expedition at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Thursday (31st May).

Impressed by the success of young tribal mountaineers who scaled the highest peak with preparation of just 8 months, the Governor said he will write to the Prime Minister of India with a request to raise a mountaineering battalion of tribal boys and girls.

Of the 10 students who were selected for the expedition, named as ‘Mission Shaurya’ five reached the highest peak on 16th May.

The Governor was all praise for the Tribal Development Department of Maharashtra which arranged for the training of students coming from various Ashramshalas for the ‘Mission Shourya’.

Secretary of Tribal Development Department Manisha Varma and team members were present.
